NLT Judges 3:31
31 After Ehud, Shamgar son of Anath rescued Israel. He once killed 600 Philistines with an ox goad.
There is only one verse to describe Shamgar, but there is something very powerful in the verse. God used him to rescue Israel. Shamgar was a man who had killed 600 Philistines with an ox goad. An ox goad was a strong pole about eight feet long. At one end was a sharp metal point for prodding the oxen and at the other end a spade for cleaning the dirt off the plow. He didn’t have a spear or sword, but instead of complaining about not possessing a sword or spear, Shamgar gave what he had to the Lord, and the Lord used it.
God empowered Shamgar to do what he did even though he may have had limited resources. Many times we look at our resources in the natural realm and get discourage because we think we don’t have enough. We have to remember that God does the work in our lives and we just have to use what we have because God will do the rest.
Let’s use what God has given us and see God’s power manifest in our lives.
