KJV Romans 1:16
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
In our lives we can get caught up in so many things. We are living in a time where we choose to do something but on the way of doing that which we have chosen, we begin to do other things that life brings us and we forget the original choice that we made.
Some of you may make a “to do” list at the beginning of everyday. Your day gets started and you get some of the things done but all of a sudden some things come up that you have to take care of – someone gets sick, the car breaks down, washer/dryer goes out, the plumbing goes out, etc. There are so many distractions that come up that eventually we forget all the things on our “to do” list.
In our lives we start off with the gospel – good news – of Christ. The way that we were saved was through faith in the gospel and walking in it. If that is the way that we were saved then that is the way we will continue to be saved.
Things come up in our lives. Trials, problems, tribulations, sickness, depression, etc…come in our lives and we forget that Jesus forgave us of our sins so that we wouldn’t sin anymore. We can’t let all the things that come against us to make us forget what Jesus did for us. Once we forget what Jesus has done for us then the power will diminish. The power of God unto salvation is the gospel. Satan would like nothing more than that you would forget the good news so that you will be powerless when adversity comes.
Our foundation is Jesus Christ and what He did for us at the cross. It is time as a church to get back to the gospel – the good news that Jesus has forgiven our sins. We need a demonstration of power in these days. People are looking for significance and purpose. The only way that people will see that demonstration of power in these days is that we go back to the cross. The sacrifice that was made at the cross at Calvary. The unpayable debt that was paid by Jesus Christ Himself.
If we truly go back to the cross we will see great manifestation of the kingdom of God here on earth as it is heaven. We will see that as the trials and tribulations come we are able to stand against them. We are able to stand against the strategies of Satan because when we choose to believe in Jesus Christ then we are choosing to believe that Jesus came that He might destroy the works of Satan (1 John 3:8)
Go back to the cross today. Go back to the good news that Jesus paid an unpayable debt for us and brought us life and life in abundance. He gives us life in the midst of the suffering, pain, and everything that comes against us.
