KJV 1 Peter 5:8
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
The battle is all around us. The enemy, Satan, is constantly battling us and we know that He is out to steal and kill and destroy. Many times the battle isn’t big, it is just something small but something that doesn’t go away very fast.
There is nothing more annoying than a little fly that keeps on buzzing around and you can’t seem to smash it. You try to smash it time and time again but you can’t seem to get it. After a while if it doesn’t go away you will get annoyed and frustrated.
Satan is out to wear us out to make our faith waver. He knows that if we have a steadfast faith—a faith that can last—that he will not win. Luke 17:6 says:
6 And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.
All we need is a little faith but an enduring faith. The fight is the fight for endurance. The fight to keep on believing. The good fight of faith. We have the power to resist Satan but we have to realize that power comes through keeping the faith. We can’t waver even though we get tired. We can’t waver even when the enemy becomes annoying to us. There is power in Jesus. Remember that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.
