Going Through The Hard Times

KJV Deuteronomy 8:2
2 And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.

There are always times in our lives when things get tough. We pass through hard times. It seems like we are going through the desert where there is no relief. When we are going through hard times we have a decision to make. We can either give in to the pressure or we can press on through the pressure, trusting in God.

Our perception of the hard times will determine how we respond to the hard times. Some may look at the hard times in the wrong way. Hard times are seen in the wrong if we see them as:

1 – A place of defeat
2 – A place where God forsakes us
3 – A place of punishment

First, the Israelites had victories in the desert. God will give victory in the midst of the desert (Numbers 21:23-25, 33-35; 2 Corinthians 2:14).

Second, God will never leave us or forsake us (Joshua 1:5; Hebrews 13:5). He has promised that to us.

Third, God tests us so that we can see where we are in Him. Do we really trust in Him? Do we really live by faith and not by sight?

If you are going through a desert right now look at it in the right way. Look at it as an opportunity to exercise your faith so that God can be glorified. The desert is an opportunity for a demonstration of God’s power. The desert will reveal what is in our heart so that we can allow the Holy Spirit to work in our lives.

Satan would like nothing more than to make us give up and loose our hope in the Lord. Make a decision today to endure the hard times because what Satan tries to use as a stumbling block for us can become a stepping stone for us to grow closer to God.
