“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good tidings to the poor; he has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;” Isaiah 61:1

“A merry heart does good, like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones.” Proverbs 17:22

There are people walking around with a broken heart. It is only when we truly decide to give our lives to God that we begin to live a life of freedom and complete healing.

We were not designed to live in depression. Depression literally will rot out our bones. It will effect our health. When we have truly been crushed it is hard for us to function the way God wants us to function. Jesus came that we might have life and life to the full.

When we can get God’s perspective we can understand that it doesn’t matter who has hurt us in the past or what is going on around us. God’s perspective is that:

  1. The trials that we are going through are not more than we can bear because He won’t let us go through more than we can handle (1 Corinthians 10:13).

  2. He will never leave us nor forsake us (Joshua 1:5,9)

  3. We can do all things through Christ who gives us strength (Philippians 4:13)

  4. God is greater than anything we could face (1 John 4:4)
  5. We can have a merry heart when we can believe that these things listed above are truth. We don’t have to stay broken hearted because Jesus will restore us. Every time that God restores He makes is better than before (Isaiah 61:1-7; Job 42:10; Zechariah 9:11-12)

Be encouraged today and encourage someone else that we get our hearts broken at times but God helps us through and is in the restoring business.
