Renewing The Mind part 2

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (Romans 12:2 NKJV)

Two weeks ago I posted part one of Renewing The Mind. I felt like I needed to share the He Delivers Me post last week. Let's continue with renewing the mind. So the big question is: How do we go through the process of renewing our minds?

We are going to talk about six things we can do to renew our minds. They are:

  1. Desire to change
  2. Deepen your knowledge
  3. Diligently apply the truths you learn
  4. Defend against old thoughts
  5. Dissociate from the past
  6. Depend on God and others for support

Let's break those down.

1 – Desire to change

The fact of the matter is that if we don't have a desire to change then we won't change. Desire will keep us in the process of change when it gets tough.

2 – Deepen your knowledge

It is important to utilize every opportunity to learn the Word of God through bible studies, books, tapes, and videos. The process of renewing our minds starts to happen as we continue to learn. What does the Word of God say about our situation?

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children. (Hosea 4:6 NKJV)

3 – Diligently apply the truths you learn

Diligently think new thoughts. It's a decision we make so we need to maintain that decision. Diligently think new ways. Diligently apply yourself to grow and to change.

Next week we will continue part 3 of the Renewing The Mind series.
