Obedience Makes You Strong

“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.” Matthew 7:24-25

In order to live the life that God wants for us we have to be strong. If you read Joshua 1 you can see it repeated where God tells Joshua “to be strong and of good courage.” Ephesians 6 tells us that we need to be strong in the Lord.

What does it mean to be strong in the Lord? It is very simple. If we can hear God’s word and act on the word then we will have a strong foundation. When the obstacles come in our lives we need a strong foundation to stand.

It’s not about the talents and gifts that we have but it is about obedience. Sometimes we get frustrated doing the work of the kingdom of God but we have to understand that our abilities will not get us through. What gets us through is God’s power working in us because when we have God’s power working in us, great things will begin to happen; things that we can not even imagine or think (Ephesians 3:20).

God called Gideon in the book of Judges a “mighty man of valor.” Gideon was questioning God on how he could be a “mighty man of valor” if there weren’t any miracles happening in his life. God didn’t call him a “mighty man of valor” because of the works that he was doing or the signs that were manifesting, but God called him mighty because He was obedient.

I challenge you today to stay obedient to God even though you don’t see spectacular things happening your life because you are mighty in God’s eyes if you are obedient to Him. If we are willing and obedient we will eat the good of the land (Isaiah 1). Stay obedient to God no matter what.
