Dear friends, don’t be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you. Instead, be very glad—for these trials make you partners with Christ in his suffering, so that you will have the wonderful joy of seeing his glory when it is revealed to all the world. (1 Peter 4:12, 13 NLT)
One thing that is certain in our lives is that we will go through trials and tribulations. Once we've given our lives to Christ we shouldn't just think that all of our problems will go away. The scripture above explains very clearly that we shouldn't be surprised when trials come.
Why shouldn't we be surprised? John 10:10 tells us that the enemy (Satan) is out to kill, steal, and destroy. You better believe that he is trying all he can to bring us down. Plus, we are living in a fallen world. Bad things will happen just because sin is in the world.
We are a target once we have given our lives to Christ. If we are going through trials then we are probably walking on the right path. The scriptures in 1 Peter 4 tell us that we should be glad, because the trials we face don't compare to His glory.
If we focus on Him then we realize that it is better to go through any trial because what is ahead is greater. If we focus on our trials then we will believe that our trials are greater than what is ahead.
Choose today to take the trials as a sign that we may be in God's will, and being in God's will means that we have victory! I will leave you with this last scripture:
No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord. (Isaiah 54:17 NKJV)
